Ted Wilkinson of the Carrboro Lions Club presents a check for $500 to Gayle Harper, left, and Lorna Chafe, social workers at the Inter-Faith Council for Social Services. The check is to help low-income families pay heating bills this winter. Chafe extimated the money could buy about 400 gallons of fuel, enough to keep four to five families warm for about a month.
