Well, we asked for it.

In honor of this weekend’s Haiku Holiday, we asked you, as we do every year, to send us your haiku. We didn’t need to ask twice: In just eight days, we received more than 200 original haiku, easily the most we’ve ever gotten. Thanks to everyone who submitted; we’re especially happy to see so much poetry being written by young people.

The 32nd annual Haiku Holiday, by the way, is Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at historic farmstead in Chapel Hill. Readings, writings, talks and poetry walks are on tap. It’s free and open to anyone with an interest in haiku.

For information and directions, see nc-haiku.org, call 929-4884 or e-mail jjearn@bellsouth.net.
