    West runner grabs second

    West Johnston senior Kyle Christ finished second in the boys championship division of the adidas XC Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday. Christ clocked in at 15 minutes, 23.9 seconds.

    The Trojans (9-3, 3-1 Two Rivers 3A Conference) rallied to win the first game, 25-22, and went on to a 3-0 sweep of Cleveland (9-3, 2-2) on Thursday night.

    Cleveland, a member of the Two Rivers 3A which has not started conference play yet, had been 0-4 in one-goal games heading into the Clayton match. Clayton had won all three matchups with Cleveland last season, and this will be their only meeting this season.


    Smithfield-Selma gets suprisingly easy win over West Johnston

    Buoyed by the return of Danny Avila, Fernando Perez, Mario Conales, Eduardo Fagordo and Christian Zamora the Spartans snapped a four-game losing skid with a stunning, 4-0 victory over West Johnston. The Spartans (2-5-) took the fight to the Wildcats (4-4) in avenging a 5-2 opening day loss.

    Cleveland keeps getting better in shutout victory over Southern Wayne
