"A few years ago we spotted a hawk couple building its nest in one of our poplars. We watched the baby hawk with our binoculars and he looked back at us. When he left the nest, he stayed around our yard, landing on the gym set and our deck railing, and even bathed in our birdbath. He landed on low branches and watched me gardening, so tame, like a pet. Once, one of his parents flew into our yard and drove him away. We hadn't seen him for awhile, but today a hawk landed on our birdbath and seemed quite at home. I'm sure it was him! And the songbirds were never fearful."
