Reader John Rees sent this photo of hail that fell outside his house May 9.

"I was in my house in Southern Village, and heard what sounded like rocks falling on the roof. I went outside and saw the hail bouncing off the street. I collected some of the larger ones and took this photo. The quarter provides a scale to the actual size of these chunks of ice. Fortunately, it did not last long, the hail preceded a short thunderstorm. It was over in a matter of minutes."
