"My new Nikon D300 arrived late last night, and I grabbed it and shot off a few frames before my daughter turned off all of the lights to show me her new toy. The aperture was already set to f1.4, so I pushed the ISO to 1600 and tried to steady the camera as best I could. The shutter speed went down to 1/20, which is way too low for a 50mm, but I've learned with kids, you have to catch 'em when they’'e enthusiastic. Taking a few minutes to change lenses and adjust settings would have ruined the moment."
