Harrington Bank will open two new offices in late August.

The bank's newest Chapel Hill office will be at 1203 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

"We've always had the objective if being as convenient as possible for residents in Chapel Hill and surrounding areas," said Larry Loeser, president and CEO of Harrington Bank.

Also scheduled to open this month is Harrington Bank's first office in Wake County. The new Raleigh location will be off of Durant Road.

The bank boasts such features as transactions from a desk rather than a teller window, freshly baked cookies and gourmet coffee.

"Our goal is to deliver the most unique and enjoyable banking experience possible," says Shannon Reaves, Vice President.

Volunteer fair set for UNC campus

The 2007 UNC Volunteer Fair will take place Aug. 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pit at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The fair, sponsored by the Carolina Center for Public Service, The Chapel Hill News and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, is open to the university community and the general public.

More than 40 local, community-based nonprofit organizations will participate in the fair to recruit and inform volunteers.

Everyone is invited to attend the fair to learn about the missions of local nonprofit organizations and explore service and volunteer opportunities in the community.

Attendees may share their contact information and organizations visited with the Chamber of Commerce for the chance to win prizes. A staff member from the Chamber will conduct a raffle at the end of the fair, and selected volunteers will receive prizes from the American Red Cross, the Durham Bulls and various downtown merchants.

Nourish International, a student organization based at UNC-CH, will serve Hunger Lunch during the fair. Proceeds from the $3 meal of beans, rice and cornbread fund sustainable nutrition projects in impoverished international communities. For information, visit www.nourishinternational.org.

For information, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 967-7075.br>
