Kids from all over North Carolina will gather at Smith Middle School next weekend to compete in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Scrabble Championship.

The tournament will be held Saturday, March 15, in the Smith Middle School Media Center. Sixty students from grades four through eight, representing 10 N.C. schools, will compete for prizes and the championship trophy.

Some students will advance to the National School Scrabble Championship in Providence, R.I., in May. The national tournament will be broadcast on the ESPN cable network.
