Students from Carolina Friends School will participate in OASES, a three-day conference focusing on environmental stewardship and sustainable agriculture, this week in Pisgah Forest.

The conference will be held Wednesday through Friday, hosted by The Outdoor Academy, an academic semester school for high school sophomores.

Students from a dozen high schools will convene to visit local organic farms, talk with permaculturalists and go on edible food walks on the Outdoor Academy's 200-acre campus. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops, examine critical environmental issues with experts and work collaboratively on scientific experiments with other like-minded students who share a passion for building a more sustainable world.

At OASES, students will investigate the sources of environmental concerns and focus on potential solutions.
