1963 IFC forms as Inter-Church Council to continue work of Committee of Church Women United
1964 IFC begins clothing distribution (Turned over to PTA Thrift Shop in 1978).
1970 IFC establishes Food Pantry at Wilson Street
1973 IFC completes Chase Park and Elliott Woods apartments
1975 IFC coordinates community response to Vietnam refugees
1980 IFC coordinates statewide effort to repeal Food Tax, starts budget counseling for IFC clients
1981 IFC advocates for uniform Housing Code (Adopted in 1983)
1982 IFC Kitchen opens at Masonic Lodge
1985 IFC Kitchen moves to Merritt Mill Road; IFC shelter program begins in congregations; IFC temporarily locates Community House in the old town jail in the Old Municipal Building.
1987 Mayor's Task Force recommends permanent shelter in Old Municipal Building.
1990 New Community House (Emergency Shelter/Community Kitchen) opens at Old Municipal Building.
1990 IFC Kitchen moves to Community House
1998 HomeStart program inaugurated for homeless families
2003 HomeStart program revamped for homeless women and women with children
2008 IFC, town and UNC announce new location for shelter on Homestead Road, to open by 2011.
