Daniel Potter has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His Eagle project was the construction of a prayer trail at HillSong Church. He joined Troop 845 in 2001 and has been senior patrol leader and junior assistant scoutmaster. He recently graduated form Chapel Hill High School and plans to attend UNC-Wilmington in the fall. He is the son of Clarence and Valerie Potter.

Sarah F. Priest was named to the honor roll for the spring semester at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Conn. She is the daughter of Nancy E. Oates.

Carly A. Helman of Chapel Hill has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. To qualify for the list a student must maintain a grade-point average of 3.4 or higher during the semester.

An exhibit of artwork by Celia Gray, a senior at UNC-Asheville, will be on display in the university’s Highsmith University Union Gallery through Aug. 5. She is the daughter of Peg Bachenheimer of Carrboro and Arne Gray of Chapel Hill, and she is a 1997 graduate of Carolina Friends School.

David Kresse Christopher of Chapel Hill has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. To qualify for the list a full-time student must rank in the top 10 percent of his class or have a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher.

Samantha Joy Poer of Carrboro received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Lynchburg College during commencement ceremonies May 10.

Grace Wallack, daughter of Morris Wallack and Susan Egnoto of Chapel Hill, has received a Bronfman Youth Fellowship. She will participate in a five-week summer program of study and travel in Israel designed to develop community leaders committed to Jewish unity. She is a rising junior at Durham Academy.

Noah Decker, a rising junior at Cedar Ridge High School, attended the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., earlier this month. The conference allows high school students to gain insight into the inner working of government, meet leaders in the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government and develop leadership skills. He is the son of Aviva Enoch.

Kimberly Powell received a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., during commencement ceremonies May 23. She is the daughter of David and Margo Powell of Chapel Hill and a graduate of Chapel Hill High School.

Chase Lowell Helpingstine has been named to the president’s list for the spring semester at Elon University. He is the son of Chuck and Beth Helpingstine of Chapel Hill. To qualify for the list a full-time student must have no grade below A minus.

Lauren J, Sapikowski of Chapel Hill received a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University during commencement ceremonies June 5. She majored in art history and theater.

Gregory A. Henkes received a bachelor’s degree in biology on May 25 from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, during commencement exercises. Henkes was a member of Sigma Xi, an honor society and scientific research organization, and he participated in the Mount David Summit, an annual celebration of academic excellence at Bates. He is the son of Kevin and Amy Henkes of Chapel Hill.

Zachary Meicher-Buzzi has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He joined Troop 845 in 2002 and has been patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. For his Eagle service project, he renovated the West End Theater in the Carrboro Arts Center. He is the son of Valerie Meicher and is a rising senior at Chapel Hill High School.
