Dr. and Mrs. A.G. Bevin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 28 in Chapel Hill at a surprise family celebration hosted by their children.

The couple was married on June 28, 1958, in East Hartford, Conn., and took a honeymoon cruise to Hawaii. The Bevins moved to Chapel Hill in 1967.

Their children are Tim and Teresa Bevin of Wilmington, Jack and Barbara Mercer of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Chris and Debbie Bevin of Chapel Hill. Jennifer and Mike Wynn of Burlington, and Alison Bevin of Chapel Hill. Grandchildren are Cameron and Kendall Mercer of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Alison and Sara Wynn of Burlington, and Marshall and Charlotte Bevin of Chapel Hill.
