The Fresh Market specialty grocery store will open at 1200 Raleigh Road, in the Glenwood Square Shopping Center in Chapel Hill, in July.

The Fresh Market, based in Greensboro, plans to open the new store, its 13th in North Carolina, on July 16. A grand opening celebration will include a complimentary outdoor barbecue, a free sample bag of coffee to the first 1,000 guests and food sampling stations throughout the store.

At more than 24,600 square feet, the Chapel Hill store will be one of The Fresh Market's largest. It will feature a bakery department, full-service meat counter, ready-to-serve entrees, seafood, more than 200 imported and domestic cheeses and a full produce section.

"We are very excited to be opening a store in Chapel Hill and expanding our reach in The Fresh Market's home state," said Brett Berry, president and chief executive officer. "This new store has been much anticipated, and we look forward to offering customers a unique and rewarding food shopping experience."

CHHS teacher is sustainability fellow

Chapel High School teacher Rob Greenberg has been named State Farm's Small Business Sustainability Fellow and has joined the Foundation for a Sustainable Community staff for the summer.

Greenberg is an earth and physical science teacher at CHHS, where he also serves as the faculty advisor for the Students United for Responsible Global Environment.

The fellowship, which was funded by the State Farm Good neighbor Citizenship Grant program, will allow him to focus his efforts on working with small businesses and nonprofits to improve their performance in regard to the triple bottom line of sustainability: environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.

Greenberg will contribute to the creation of a first-of-its-kind metric that will measure the sustainability of small business practices.

"Having Rob's energy and knowledge will help the Institute for Sustainable Development continue to build great sustainability tools for small businesses and non-profits," said Chris Carmody, director of the Sustainable Business Initiative at the foundation.

In addition to teaching at CHHS, Greenberg is working on his Masters degree in Science Education at Montana State University, where his research focuses on authentic scientific student research.
