Seymour Center The Senior Net Learning Center is offering two summer workshops. On July 11, a computer maintenance workshop will be offered. Routine maintenance of your personal computer is vital in keeping your system running smoothly and efficiently. Problems ranging from "not shutting down" to "screen freezes" are more than likely a result of poor maintenance. The objective of this workshop is to make computer users aware of maintenance for the computer's security and improve its overall performance and efficiency. Class fee is $10.On July 25, an exploring blogs workshop will be offered. Today everyone is telling their stories on Blogs, those Internet sites filled with personal or group information, pictures and lively comments. This workshop will explore some of the best blogs around, and participants will create a practice blog, post stories to it, upload favorite photos and receive comments from classmates. Students should have some prior experience with e-mail and the Internet. Participants should create and bring to class a Google Gmail account and its password. Go to www.google.com, click "Gmail" and then "Create an Account." Class fee: $10.Special events this month include presentations, parties, tournaments and more. July 2: From the Health Expert: 10:30-11:30 a.m. "The Big C: Cancer Myths & Truths" will look at common myths and truths about cancer risks, treatments, cures and more. Healthy Food Demo: 4-6 p.m. Sam Thompson, a former chef of Grill 23 in Boston and currently a Department on Aging intern, will lead the class. Limited to the first 15 people to register. Registration deadline is Monday noon before the event. Commitment Fee: $7.July 10: We Are Family: Family Reunion 2008. 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Come help us celebrate the true spirit of family and friends.
