The Community Relations Department of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools has received two awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for publications produced for parents and community members.
"Learning Skills: Scope and Sequence" is a publication that helps parents identify specific organization and research skills students need according to their grade level. The district produced four editions: one for students in grades K-2, one for students in grades 3-5, one for students in grades 6-8 and one for students in grades 9-12. "Learning Skills" received NSPRA's 2008 Award of Excellence in the special purpose publication category.
The district's 2005-2006 Annual Report earned NSPRA's Award of Merit in the annual report category. The publication, targeted at both parents and community members, contains information on the district's growth and construction projects, special programs and performance on state and federal tests.
The Community Relations Department includes Stephanie Knott, assistant to the superintendent for community relations, and Robin Nucilli, publications assistant.
"Learning Skills: Scope and Sequence" was produced in conjunction with the Instructional Services Division.
