Jeremy Gerlach of Hillsborough exults as he crosses the finish line May 9 at Irwin Belk Stadium at N.C. A&T. "After years of hard work, he accomplished his dream: to win the North Carolina state championship in the 1,600 meters," says his mother Dana Thompson. Gerlach, a multi-sport star for the Red Wolves for years, graduated from Cedar Ridge High School in June and is headed to UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall, where he will continue to run cross country and track.
