Two local artists, Luna Lee Ray and Joanne Andrews, have joined with a formerly local one, Renee Seaman Treml, to host a special weekend art exhibit.

"The Garden of Earthly Delights" will be set throughout Ray's Chapel Hill studio and garden, offering an appropriate setting for works inspired by nature.

The exhibit will open with a reception in the garden Friday, July 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. , and will continue Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The show will feature mixed media paintings of botanicals and insects by Ray, ceramic sculptures of birds by Andrews and paintings of Australian birds by Treml.

Ray is an active member of the Orange County Artists Guild and teaches art classes through The ArtsCenter in Carrboro. Her paintings feature women, botanicals and insects, evoking a feeling of mystery and awe.

Andrews, a Durham resident, teaches art at Rogers-Herr Middle School. Her ceramic sculptures feature wise birds with strong personalities.

Treml, who used to live in Chapel Hill, recently moved about as far away as you can get -- Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She was a member of the Orange County Artists Guild and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators.

She'll be returning for this weekend's show, with a new collection of paintings in hand. Her new works feature kookaburras, pink-breasted cockatoos and more.
