WEDDING
Kimberly Rene Lavin and Clayton Adam Barker were married May 31 at Discovery Place in Charlotte. Dr. Mark Plummer officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Ed and Sharon Lavin of Waxhaw. She earned an undergraduate degree from N.C. State and a doctorate in optometry from Souther College of Optometry in Memphis. She is an optometrist with Triangle Eye Institute in Raleigh.The groom is the son of Terry and Kaye Barker of Chapel Hill. He earned an undergraduate degree and a doctorate in statistics from N.C. State. He is a statistician with SAS Institute in Cary.Matron of honor was Julie Koetsenruijter, sister of the bride, of The Netherlands.Bridesmaids were Mia Guillory of Murphysboro, Ill., Kristi Liu of Portland, Ore., and Amber Walter of Indian Trail.Best man was Terry Barker, father of the groom.Ushers were Jason Barker, the groom's brother, of Cary, Daniel Sasson of Gainesville, Fla., and Brad Mayhew of Raleigh.Cindy Dang of Fort Smith, Ark., sang "When You Say Nothing at All." Jessica Forkel, the bride's cousin, of Marietta, Ga., read a poem she wrote for the couple.A reception was held at the Discovery Place Aquarium Hall, hosted by the bride's parents. A rehearsal dinner was held at Marriott City Center in Charlotte, hosted by the groom's parents.After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple will live in Apex.
