RASPBERRIES to whoever spray painted "KKK" on a Barbecue Joint delivery truck. The perpetrator(s) deserve our scorn both for racism and stupidity, which always go hand in hand. First, The Barbecue Joint is owned by white people. So to whom, exactly, is this Neanderthalic message intended?Second, does anyone still care about -- much less fear -- the Ku Klux Klan? The group long ago was roundly dismissed as ridiculous and backwards to the point of irrelevance. Not to say racism is dead. But even most racists have enough sense to shun the sheet-wearers. Spray-painting miscreants, get a clue, and get a life.
ROSES to Rainbow Soccer for allowing two young refugees from Myanmar to play for free. The two boys, ages 6 and 10, are from the Karen region of Myanmar, which has suffered tremendous violence and oppression.Rainbow Soccer, the 36-year-old organization that hosts leagues for everyone from 3-year-olds to adults, deserves further praise for providing many such scholarships every year. Last year, 160 low-income people had the $80 registration fee waived.
