Changes mulled for tree ordinanceThe Hillsborough Town Board will consider amending the town's tree ordinance during a public hearing Monday.The proposed amendment would include increasing penalties for violations of the ordinance from $1,000 to $2,500. It also would include clarifying Tree Ordinance provisions involving care, preservation and removal of trees in Hillsborough and increasing the number of appointees to the Tree Board.A copy of the draft ordinance is at Town Hall and on the town's Web site, www.hillsboroughnc.org. The Town Board meets at 7 p.m. in the Town Barn, 101 E.
