Duck! Chapel Hill filmmaker Joe Schenkenberg's 'Bottlecap Assassins' is one of the 23 short films on tap for the third annual Carrboro Film Festival, scheduled for Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Carrboro Century Center. Some 80 entries were received, and the selection committee chose the best of the best: fictional narratives, documentaries, music videos, experimental and animation works. Schenkenberg, 26, who claims to be "the greatest bottlecap shooter that has ever lived," has made more than 40 films, a number of which feature bottlecaps. Go figure. Also this year, Carrboro-based documentarian Kat Keene Hogue, who has done work for the New York Times and NPR, among others, has two films in the mix, and festival founder Nic Berry has one, too. Tickets are $5 at the door, 100 N. Greensboro St., Carrboro. Children ages 10 and under get in free. For more information, go to
