Dallas Dermont Durham
Dallas Dermont Durham, 86, of 213 Edisto Ct., Chapel Hill, died Jan. 2, 2009, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Lee and Novie Clark Durham, and brothers John Edward and Troy Lee.
Mr. Durham was born Oct. 24, 1922, and was a life long resident of Chapel Hill. He was in the Army Air Corp, where he served his country during World War II.
He was a commercial roofing contractor, and owned and operated Durham Roofing Company, until he retired at 72. He was of the Methodist faith and a charter member of Amity United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of 63 years; his four children, Ned Durham and wife Donna, Judi Cialdini-Short and husband Jack, Bob Durham, and Susan Pendergraph and husband Mike; his sister Dot Hrabak; grandchildren Bart Durham (Betty), Brett Durham (Hilary), Chris Cialdini, Mia Berg (Lukas), Matt Cialdini, Rama Pendergraph, Addie Pendergraph, Michelle Pendergraph, and Colt Short; great-grandchildren Jessica, Justin, Brittany, Joshua Durham, Hailey Cialdini and Parker Berg; nephew Mike Hrabak; and nieces Donna Gates, and Teresa Cooper. Other extended family: Leigh Lee, Midori Sasaki, Daisy Roberson, Bobbi Pugh; great-great-grandchildren Troy Roberson, Cody, Dillon, and Haley West.
The family would like to thank all the UNC Hospice care givers, especially Carrie and Jeannie, Roland, Jeff, Bronwyn and Andrea for taking such good care of our father. Your love and support has helped us all through this difficult time.
Services were held at Amity United Methodist Church on Jan. 6. Burial was in the Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
