Public library changes hours

Starting on Tuesday, the Chapel Hill Public Library will change its hours to open one hour earlier on three weekday mornings and to close three hours earlier on Sundays. The new schedule also reinstates Thursday evening open hours that were eliminated in 2008.

The library's new schedule will be as follows: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Streets to be resurfaced

The Town of Chapel Hill is scheduled to begin its annual resurfacing program this week. The streets or portions of streets listed below are planned for resurfacing and/or milling.

Manhole and water valves will be adjusted and raised.

Expected time to complete the project is six weeks. Equipment failure or weather conditions could extend the time.

Streets scheduled for resurfacing are: Adams Wa, Billie Holliday Court, Braswell Place, Braswell Road, Cameron Avenue (E), Cleland Avenue, Concordia Court, Emory Drive, Forsyth Drive, Forsythia Court, Garden Street, Harrington Point, Highview Drive, Hillview Road, Kenmore Road, Kinston Drive, Marcus Road, Markham Drive, Partin Street, Piney Mountain Road, Rolling Road, Roosevelt Drive and Timberlyne Road.
