I agree with Greg Gangi's suggestion regarding saving the Varsity Theatre in his recent letter.

Actually, I had the same thought that perhaps a non-profit cooperative could take over its management. Of course, setting up a non-profit is a lot of work and the people willing to be involved would have to feel assured that it would be a sustainable enterprise.

Perhaps the Downtown Commission might get involved. Actually, any group of citizens could do it. That's how we organized The People's Channel.

It may be too late. Access to the building may already be gone and the interval between its closing and a new organization being able to open it again may be too long. If there are enough people interested, we should get to work on it.
