Amanda Joanne Furr and Jon Robert Jordan were married May 16, 2009 in an outdoor ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Garnett, grandparents of the bride, on Figure Eight Island. The Rev. John Jordan, uncle of the groom, officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Alan Furr of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Helen Furr-Smith of Chapel Hill and Judith Garnett of Clermont, Fla. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and is currently completing a master's degree at UNC-Charlotte. She is employed as a kindergarden teacher with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jordan of West Jefferson. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University and Wake Forest University School of Law. He is employed as an attorney with Robinson, Bradshaw and Hinson in Charlotte.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

Matron of honor was Jan Gregory, sister of the groom, of Albemarle.

Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Bernardin, niece of the bride, Amy Gardner, Robin Curtis and Rachel Hawkins, all of Columbia, S.C.; Lauren Wint, of Hartsville, S.C.; Laura Fiery of New York City and Mrs. Craig Morgan of Buckhannon, W. Va.

Best man was Ray Jordan, father of the groom, of West Jefferson, and Matt Gregory, brother-in-law of the groom, of Albemarle.

Ushers were Bryan Beard of Yadkinville; Jamie Arnold of West Jefferson; Jeff Filer of Charlotte; Fabian Davis of Hampton, Va.; Aaron Hodges of Asheville; and Craig Morgan of Buckhannon, W. Va.

Flower girls were Anya and Lilia Garnett, nieces of the bride, of Cary.

Junior ushers were Christopher Bernardin of Columbia, S.C., and Christian Garnett of Cary, both cousins of the bride.

A reception was hosted by the parents of the bride at Figure Eight Island Yacht Club.

Following a wedding trip to Argentina, the couple will live in Charlotte.
