CHHS edges toward playoffsChapel Hill (4-5 overall, 2-1 Carolina 3-A) qualified for a state playoff spot with its fourth win overall and moved into second place in the Carolina-Nine 3-A Conference with its 27-20 win at Oxford Webb. Daniel Watson rushed for three touchdowns on runs of 2, 2 and 60 yards to lead the way. Stephen Wistner's 25-yard TD pass to Eddie Burgard gave CHHS a 20-7 lead, and Wistner's 60-yard TD put the Tigers ahead by 20 points before the Warriors tried to rally with two late scores.COLLEGESFOOTBALL(As Of Oct. 26) | Atlantic | ACC | Pct. | All | Pct. | | Boston College | 3-2 | .600 | 5-3 | .625 | | Clemson | 3-2 | .600 | 4-3 | .571 | | Wake Forest | 2-2 | .500 | 4-4 | .500 | | Florida State | 1-3 | .250 | 3-4 | .429 | | Maryland | 1-3 | .250 | 2-6 | .250 | | N.C. At Hillsborough, Caleb Goodnight threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Josh Pappas with 1:14 remaining to rally the Red Wolves from a 14-0 halftime deficit. Carrboro plays at Southern Vance this Friday, guaranteeing one team will be in first place next weekend. At Pittsboro, South Granville's Ian Bosley scored three rushing touchdowns and the Vikings did something no one else has been able to do this year -- shut down the Chargers' offense. They held Shannon Peppers under 100 yards rushing one week after he romped to 414 on the ground against Carrboro, and they and picked off three of Sam Griffin's passes. | Team | Con | All | | Cardinal Gibbons | 3-0 | 8-1 | | Chapel Hill | 2-1 | 4-5 | | Orange | 2-1 | 5-4 | | Southern Vance | 1-2 | 4-5 | | Oxford Webb | 1-2 | 3-6 | | Northern Vance | 0-3 | 1-8 | Friday, Oct. 23Southern Vance 30, Orange 21Chapel Hill 27, Oxford Webb 20Cardinal Gibbons 28, Northern Vance 0Friday, Oct. 30Southern Vance at Chapel HillCardinal Gibbons at OrangeOxford Webb at Northern Vance | Team | Con | All | | Southern Durham | 5-0 | 9-1 | | Hillside | 3-1 | 6-3 | | Riverside | 2-2 | 4-5 | | Person | 2-2 | 4-5 | | Jordan | 2-3 | 5-5 | | East Chapel Hill | 1-3 | 1-8 | | Northern Durham | 0-4 | 0-9 | Friday, Oct. 23Southern Durham 47, East Chapel Hill 0Roxboro Person 63, Durham Jordan 29Durham Hillside 42, Durham Riverside 7Northern Durham, idle.Friday, Oct. 30Southern Durham at Northern Durham Hillside at East Chapel HillPerson at Durham RiversideJordan, open date.RECREATIONCO-REC SOFTBALL | Team | W-L | | 1.
