The Chapel Hill Public Arts Office and University Mall invite area photographers to submit images for a juried competition and exhibition focused on the theme of ecology. Selected photographs will be debuted at Chapel Hill's Earth Day celebration at Southern Community Park for a day (April 10) and then displayed throughout University Mall from April 12 through May 30, 2010.

The three top place winners will receive $1,000, $500, and $250, respectively. A people's choice award of $250 will also be offered. The competition is open to anyone 18 years and older living Orange, Durham, Wake, Chatham or Alamance county.

Submission deadline is 5 p.m. March 3. There is no entry fee.

For the purpose of the competition and exhibition, the term ecology is broad, encompassing concepts such as living with nature, conservation, protection and preservation of resources, green building and so on.

For more information and instructions for submitting entries, see www.chapelhillarts.org, call 968-2750 or e-mail info@chapelhillarts.org.
