Carrboro Home break-ins:
- A man who was renovating a home on High Street called police July 25 and said that medical and financial records, as well as 48 boxes of 12-gauge ammunition, were taken from a safe on the property, a police report stated. According to the report, the man said he hadn't opened the safe since September, because he could not remember the combination. He finally got it open this week and realized the property was missing.
Chapel Hill Benjamin Albert Theye, 20, and Michael Talis Thaden, 20, both of 110 Noble St., were arrested July 25 and charged with felony possession with intent to sell and distribute cocaine, felony maintaining a dwelling for the sale or distribution of a narcotic, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.
Vehicle break-ins:
- Someone took a purse from an unlocked Volkswagen Passat on Grove Street between 6 p.m. July 22 and 6:45 a.m. July 23, police reported. The suspect took $20, and police reported recovering the purse and the remaining contents from a neighbor's back yard.
- A suspect took a Garmin GPS unit and $25 from a Honda Accord parked on Emory Drive between 11 p.m. July 22 and 7:55 a.m. July 23, police reported. Officers also reported recovering a $125 purse, $150 worth of clothes, five credit and debit cards, and $15 worth of other goods.
- Someone took a Samsung cell phone from a vehicle parked in town Lot No. 2 on East Rosemary Street between 11:30 p.m. July 23 and 1:30 a.m. July 24, police reported.
- Someone reported the theft July 24 of a 1988 Ford Crown Victoria, valued at $7,000, and a set of car keys from the parking lot at 100 E. Rosemary St., according to police. The vehicle was taken between 2:45 and 11 a.m., the report stated.
- Someone stole several items from a vehicle parked at West Rosemary and Church streets on July 25 between 8:30 and 9 a.m., police reported. According to the report, the thief took a $50 set of keys, a $50 wallet, $150 cash, two debit/credit cards and a driver's license.
Home break-ins:
- Someone broke into a home on Emory Drive between 12 a.m. July 21 and 10:28 p.m. July 23, police reported. The suspect took a television set valued at $500, the report stated.
