Paul Aspirin of Chapel Hill was awarded the Everett and Trudy Suddreth Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 from the Retail Consumer Alliance Foundation, the charitable arm of the Carolinas Food Industry Council.

Alperin, a three-time scholarship recipient, is a senior at the University of Rochester. He is majoring in chemistry with a double minor in music and history.

Army Reserve Spec. Hugh B. Page has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Bob and Joan Page of Chapel Hill.

Patrick McIntyre, a 2009 graduate of East Chapel Hill High School and son of Bob and Becky McIntyre, completed his freshman year at Elon University and was named to the dean's list in both the fall and spring terms.

He was also recommended by the Elon University History Department for the William H. and Kathryn M. Duncan Scholarship awarded to a rising sophomore history major. He will receive the award for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Zachary Paul Doerfer of Chapel Hill received a high school diploma from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts' School of Drama, Acting.

He is the son of John Doerfer.

Julianne Patrice Lawson of Chapel Hill received a high school diploma from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts' School of Drama, Acting.

She is the daughter of Patricia Lawson.

Becky Zhong and Anna Tang of East Chapel Hill High School, Taylor Wilt of Chapel Hill High School and Dylan Coveney of Cedar Ridge High School are graduates of the 2010 Free Enterprise Leadership Challenge.

During FELC, participants worked in small groups to create or sell a product or service for other members of the camp. Daily speakers provided real life business examples and emphasized the importance of philanthropy. Students participated in hands-on activities that taught the basics of marketing, free enterprise, economics and principled leadership. Speech and essay contests were held during the week, and cash prizes were given to top performers.

Ryan Page of Chapel Hill, a rising sophomore at Sarah Lawrence College, was the lead soloist in Rosie Herrera's "Various Stages of Drowning: A Cabaret" at the 2010 American Dance Festival in Durham.

"Drowning" was presented at the Reynolds Industries Theater on the campus of Duke University July 12-14.

Chapel Hill resident Wyndham Robertson chaired the Hollins Campaign for Women Who Are Going Places at Hollins University.

The campaign, which began in 2002 and ended June 30 with $161.6 million raised, was the largest comprehensive fundraising campaign in the university's 168-year history and the largest ever for any women's college in the South.

Robertson who graduated from Hollins in 1958 and is currently a member of the university's Board of Trustees.

The campaign enabled Hollins to grow its endowment from $85 million in 2003 to its present value of $130 million.
