Jesus Antonio Roque, 31, of 303 Pinegate Circle, Apt. 11, was charged Aug. 29 with felony assault by strangulation, police reported.

Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill police officers held an ALERT alcohol enforcement operation downtown Aug. 27 and Aug. 28. They charged 28 people with underage alcohol possession, 33 with having an open container and five with public consumption.

Police reported break-ins to residences on:

- Holland Drive around 4:10 p.m. Aug. 28.

- Longview Street around 10:35 p.m. Aug. 28.

- Laurel Hill Road between midnight Aug. 10 and 12:50 p.m. Aug. 29.

- 300 block of West Cameron Avenue between 8 p.m. Aug. 27 and noon Aug. 28.

Police reported break-ins to vehicles on:

- Europa Drive between 11 p.m. Aug. 27 and 12:38 a.m. Aug. 28.

- 400 block of West Franklin Street between 12:30 and 2:30 a.m. Aug. 28.

- Europa Drive between 11:15 p.m. Aug. 27 and 9 a.m. Aug. 28.

- 200 block of North Columbia Street between 10 p.m. Aug. 28 and 1:57 a.m. Aug. 29.

- Hillsborough Street between 10 p.m. Aug. 28 and 11:20 a.m. Aug. 29.

- 300 block of South Columbia Street between 1:30 and 6 p.m. Aug. 28. The suspect also stole the white 2007 Pontiac G6, valued at $8,000, police reported.
