The Jaguars return to action on Thursday at Durham Jordan High School. The junior varsity game will be played at 4:45 p.m., and the varsity game will be at 6:15.

The Carrboro JVs won their first game of the season last week, downing Mt. Tabor 2-1. That was followed by a 1-0 loss at CHHS and a 2-2 tie with Reynolds.

Football: Panthers, winless, fall on road

With Williams High School pinned against its own end zone early in the first quarter Friday night, it seemed as though the Bulldogs' early season woes might continue.

Ten plays and 97 yards later, it was an entirely different story.

Bolstered by a few big runs by junior running back Avery Harris, the Bulldogs marched their way down the field, capping it with a 4-yard touchdown run by Harris that ultimately gave them a 7-6 victory against visiting Orange at Burlington Memorial Stadium.

The defense came up huge with a blocked extra-point attempt that would have tied the game, as well as forcing a fumble to stop a late Panthers drive deep in their zone.

The game could have swung either way late, with Panthers kicker Santiago Ibarra hooking a 35-yard field goal wide in the fourth quarter.

Both teams have an open date this week.
