Almost 600 runners entered last Saturday's annual Carrboro 10K, the second leg of Le Tour de Carrboro's three races. Le Tour concludes Nov. 25 with Thanksgiving Day's Gallop & Gorge.
Brock Baker, 23, of Chapel Hill, won last Saturday's 10K road race, starting from McDougle School and covering the 10 kilometers in 31:01. That was more than a full minute in front of runnerup Alex Varner's 32:05. David Roche was third in 32:36.
Bridget Duffy, 26, of Carrboro, was the No. 1 female, in 38:11.98. She was followed in by Kim Certain (40:52.18) and Janne Heinonen (41:10.48).
Rietta Couper won the Masters Female Division in 42:20.51, and the reliable John Hinton ran a 36:04.05 to win the Masters Males and take 10th overall.
