Buns fans are fierce in their devotion; "there is no other competition," one voter said. George Ash, who opened the store with Michael Namour in 2008, said it's all about the product - and the customers. Buns' burgers are fresh, not frozen, and are hand-patted using 100 percent Angus beef, turkey, salmon or tuna. The veggie burgers are made in house, the fries are hand cut daily, and they buy fresh buns locally. There are over two dozen toppings from which to choose. The healthier burgers are big sellers, Ash said. One voter mentioned the veggie burgers in particular, although another raved the meat burgers "can turn a vegan into a carnivore!" Ash said no matter how you like it, fresh burgers of all kinds are big after years of fast-food fare. "It really is an opinionated thing," he said. "It's probably the most popular item in this country."
