The great Red Clay Ramblers will play a rare concert with the Chapel Hill High School Orchestra Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in CHHS' Hanes Auditorium. The Red Clay Ramblers have a long history with Chapel Hill High, which continues to this day. Longtime band member Bland Simpson was president of the Class of '66, the last class to graduate from CHHS when it was in its original downtown location (where University Square is now). Robb Ladd, CHHS '83, plays drums for the Red Clay Ramblers, and several children of band members are current or former Tigers: Chloe Ladd and Molly Ladd are in the class of 2013, and Hunter and Susanna Simpson graduated in 2003.
In addition, percussionist Scott O'Toole (CHHS '07), now a student at the North Carolina School of the Arts, will join the orchestra and Red Clay Ramblers. Tickets are $6 adults, $3 students, available at the door.
