CPYFL Football: Both the Carrboro and Chapel Hill recreation departments will field several teams this fall in the Central Piedmont Youth Football League, which comprises 20 organizations from Central North Carolina. Teams will include a Flag League (for 5- and 6-year-olds), and tackle play for a Pee Wee League (ages 7-8, no more than 115 pounds), Mite League (ages 9-10, maximum of 135 pounds), and a Midget League (ages 11-12, a weight limit of 150 pounds). Registration is available at the Carrboro Rec Department offices (918-7364) or online at www.townofcarrboro.org and the Chapel Hill Rec Department (968-2784) on 200 Plant Road, or on the department website, www.chapelhillparks.org.

Co-Rec Softball: The Carrboro Recreation & Parks Department is organizing a Fall Co-Rec Softball League. League games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays through October. Each team will play one to two games each week of the regular season, followed by a double-elimination tournament. Teams will be required to pay $200 of the $625 entry fee at registration. New pool hours: Effective Aug. 15, the Chapel Hill Community Center pool at 120 S. Estes Drive will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 5:30-10:30 a.m. and 4:30-8 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays it will be open 5:30-8:30 a.m. and 4:30-8 p.m. The pool is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 1-6 p.m. Sunday. CHHS Football: Chapel Hill High School football will host a Mini-Camp July 25-28 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the campus of CHHS. The camp is a free for anyone interested in playing football.

Hoops at East: Wildcat basketball coach Ray Hartsfield (308-1350) says Hoops at East basketball camp has some opening for its second session, which runs July 25-29 at East Chapel Hill.

Tiger Soccer: CHHS soccer coach Ron Benson (929-2106) has a fitness-oriented session of his Chapel Hill Soccer Camp July 25- 29 just for grades 7-12. The fee is $75. Players should bring their cleats and water bottle.

Jaguar Baseball: Carrboro High School coach Nat Tyndall ( natunc@aol.com) has his fourth Jaguar Baseball Camp from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., July 25-29, for youths aged 10-12. Camp focus is on learning the fundamentals of baseball and on playing the game with confidence. The fee is $95, and each camper receives a T-shirt, water bottle, and a Friday cook-out/pizza party.

CHHS Field Hockey: The Tiger Field Hockey Camp for ages 6 to 14 will be held from 8:15-11:15 a.m., July 26-29, at the CHHS Field Hockey practice field. Tthe cost is $100 per camper. The camp staff is led by fifth-year CHHS head coach Diego Caballero and CHHS assistant coach Xan Funk, who played on UNC's NCAA championship team. Woods Charter Hoops: Head basketball coach John Berry will host the Youth Hoops Summer Basketball Camp's last session for three hours daily, 9 a.m. to noon, July 25-29, at the charter school's campus in southern Chapel Hill. Female Fitness: Kinetix Health Club in Chapel Hill is offering a Pre-Season Training Camp, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 25-28, for girls ages 13-18. The program helps build core strength, agility and endurance for improved athletic performance and injury prevention. It will run at the club off Elliott Road. The fee is $99 per student. Carrboro Volleyball: Carrboro Recreation and Parks (918-7364) will host a Volleyball Camp, Aug. 1-5, for youth ages 10-13. It costs $90 per child. The Carrboro Rec offices are located at the Carrboro Century Center, 100 N. Greensboro Street.

Fall Baseball: Registration has opened for the Carrboro Recreation Department's Fall Baseball Program for participants 6-12 years old as of Aug. 31, 2011. The forms must be signed by a parent/guardian. The fee is $58 for Orange County residents, $94 for out of county residents. Sign up at Rec Department offices, 100 N. Greensboro St. Carrboro, or call 918-7364 for more information. Also volunteer coaches' applications for Carrboro's Youth Fall Baseball Program are being accepted at the town recreation department.
