UNC's Ackland Art Museum turns to the university's extended family for its newest exhibition, opening with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday Sept. 9 and continuing through Dec. 4. "Carolina Collects: 150 Years of Modern and Contemporary Art" presents nearly 90 works from the private collections of UNC alumni, featuring hidden treasures by some of the modern area's most renowned artists. In addition to the opening reception (RSVP to acklandrsvp@unc.edu), several special events are scheduled in conjunction with the exhibit. A panel discussion on collecting, moderated by exhibition curator Peter Nesbit, will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6.
