CHAPEL HILL - Even though there was a lively crowd and it was both homecoming and senior night at East Chapel Hill, nothing could stop Durham Hillside's offensive explosion Friday night.

The Hornets totaled over 500 yards in total offense and had two runners over 100 yards en route to a 45-7 victory Friday night.

Quarterback Collyn Anderson threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns in three quarters.

The win assures Hillside (8-1, 5-0 conference) of at least a share of the PAC 6 conference title.

"We got a share of it right now and we got to go next week [against Durham Northern] and try to win it all," Hillside coach Antonio King said. "It's a big deal to go [undefeated in the PAC 6]. It's what these seniors want - to be two-time, back-to-back undefeated champs and not share it with anybody."

After fumbling away their opening play from scrimmage, the Hornets finally got cooking, scoring touchdowns on four of their next five possessions.

Khris Francis got the scoring started with a 4-yard touchdown run, and then his backup, Julian Beltran, scored from 1-yard out to give Hillside a 14-0 lead.

Francis finished with 128 yards on 20 carries, while Beltran chipped in 106 on 12 totes.

Anderson then threw one up for up for Travion Thompson, who out jumped a defender and raced the rest of the way for a 36-yard touchdown for a 21-0 advantage.

East Chapel Hill's (2-8, 2-3 conference) Drew Davis got his team on the board late in the half, spearheading a 8-play, 78-yard drive that ended with him sneaking it in from 1-yard out to cut the lead to 22-7.

It was also announced that Wildcats receiver Alex Moore, who had seven catches in the game, had broken the single-season state record for receptions, now at 116.

Hillside answered right before half as Anderson found Dylan Davis in the back of the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown, propelling his team to a 30-7 halftime lead.

The Hornets then erased any doubts by scoring touchdowns on their first two possessions of the second half.

"It was about time," King said. "We got rolling. We ran the ball well tonight and threw some short, quick passes. We also only had one penalty for the game."
