CHAPEL HILL - As the town meets the future, it needs a plan.
A good one. A better one than it has now.
A better one that includes more points of views, more creative ways to solve problems and one that accurately reflects what you and the rest of Chapel Hill are, and hope to become.Chapel Hill has branded the process of creating this plan "2020" because the plan should guide the town through at least the next decade.
It will be a playbook for how town government will interact with all the people and groups who intersect in Chapel Hill, including the people who live here, the people who do business here and the people who want to build here.
This year's planning has expanded from a focus on land-use to all of local government and how it affects community members.
The process for creating this plan started last year.
Those leading it continue to explore what the plan should look like, including how it will differ from past plans and how it will fit with neighboring municipalities' visions.
Public community meetings about the plan are scheduled through April and the town has a 2020 website,
bit.ly/jxcgWD, and a blog,
www.2020buzz.org, to provide more information about how you can get involved.
