Day of Service Events

A rally and march for Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be held at 9:15 a.m. at Historic First Baptist church, 106 N. Roberson St. The theme is "Forever Forward." A service will be follow at 11 a.m. Larry D. Hall will be the keynote speaker.

MLK Day of Service Event

The United Way of the Greater Triangle will hold its Orange County Signature Project for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 800 Market St. Volunteers will work on a variety of projects including: assembly of health kits, birthday kits and school kits, shoe sorting and clothes sorting. Computer literacy training sessions will also be conducted. Help will be needed with the construction of saw horses and picnic tables. Children will create valentines for active military and veterans. Volunteers are also encouraged to donate new or gently used books and blankets. unitedwaytriangle.org/mlk.

Breastfeeding Group

Breastfeeding Cafe, an informal drop-in gathering of breastfeeding moms, is held every Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Red Hen, 201 Weaver St., Carrboro.

MLK Blood Drive

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro area alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the American Red Cross will hold its 23rd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Blood Drive from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Hargraves Recreation Center. 303-9686, unc.givesblood.org.

Restorative Yoga
