BLACK MOUNTAIN- Emily Williamson of Hildebran and Gregory Gangi of Carrboro, were united in marriage on October 15, 2011, at five o’clock in the evening at Chapel of the Prodigal, on the campus of Montreat College. The Reverend Allison Pryor officiated. A dinner and dance reception hosted by the bride’s family followed at The Wild Hare in Black Mountain.
The bride is the daughter of Gail Clements Williamson of Hildebran and William John Williamson, Jr. of Franklin, Massachusetts. She is the granddaughter of Elsie Clements of Hildebran and the late Otis Clements, and the late William and Helen Williamson.
A graduate of East Burke High School, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Appalachian State University, Emily was Vice President for Student Development at Western Piedmont Community College prior to the wedding. She began work as SuccessNC Director for the North Carolina Community College System in Raleigh on November 1, 2011.
The bridegroom is the son of Myriam Vela Gangi of Chapel Hill and the late Ernest Joseph Gangi. He is the grandson of the late Luis and Victoria Vergara Vela and the late Lorenzo and Marianna Gangi.
A graduate of Chapel Hill High School, University of South Carolina, and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Greg is Associate Director for Education and Assistant Professor in the Institute for the Environment at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Lauren Huffman of Valdese, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Eric Block of Durham, friend of the groom, served as best man.
Olivia Mian and Joseph Mian of Richmond, Virginia, niece and nephew of the groom, served as flower girl and ring bearer. Ushers were Sam Goodnight of Lincolnton, cousin of the bride, and Nicholas Peterson of Richmond, Virginia, nephew of the groom.
Friends of the bride, Susan Bridges and Heidi Hyde, both of Hickory, acted as greeters. Abbie Goodnight of Lincolnton, cousin of the bride, was program attendant.
Friends of the couple, Debra Rose of Morganton and Rachel Willis of Durham, served as readers for the ceremony. Mary Charlotte Safford of Morganton, friend of the couple, served as wedding director. Eunice Stackhouse of Montreat provided piano music for the ceremony and a jazz trio led by Nathan Hefner of Hickory provided music for the reception.
A bridal luncheon was hosted by the bride’s sister and aunt, Pamela Goodnight, at Black Mountain Bistro. The groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Red Rocker Inn in Black Mountain. Friends of the couple, Rachel Willis and Scott Cain of Durham, and George Lensing of Carrboro, hosted a reception to celebrate the couple’s marriage in Carrboro.
After a honeymoon trip to England, the couple now resides in Carrboro.
