When all the world is starting to turn green, its time to dust off the fiddle and fire up some good old Scottish and Irish traditional tunes. The ArtsCenter in Carrboro is doing just that, launching the sixth annual Celtic Concert Series Thursday night with a visit by Scythian. This isnt sit-by-the-fire-and-lament music Scythian, a staple of Merlefest and Shakori Hills, kicks Celtic music up a notch, fueled by an energetic dose of punk rock sensibility. In other words, get up and dance.
The Celtic Concert series will continue with Lunasa and special guest Leyla McCalla on March 23; the venerable Tannahill Weavers on April 27 (at the Casbah in Durham); and Teada with special guest Seamus Begley on May 10.
