•  Chatham Animal Rescue and Education will host the 9th annual Bash and Auction to Benefit Cats and Dogs in Need, from 5 to 8 p.m. today, May 20, at Shady Wagon Farm, 2312 Pea Ridge Road, New Hill.

Proceeds will support CARE’s targeted spay/neuter program and efforts to find forever homes for unwanted cats and dogs in Chatham County.

The North Carolina Botanical Garden will hold its inaugural Carolina Moonlight Gala from 6:30 to 11 p.m. June 2 at the Garden’s Education Building and surrounding gardens.

There will be hors d’eouvres and drink, live music and dancing, silent auction and more.

All proceeds will support the Garden’s programs in conservation, horticulture and education.The auction is available online.

Tickets are $125.

•  The Last Unicorn, 536 Edwards Ridge Road, will present “Roots & WIngs,” a fundraising event to benefit inclusive arts programs for children at Jordan Lake School of the Arts, from 1 to 5 p.m. June 2.

The event will include architectural salvage, butterfly release, storytelling, music, craft activities, food and drink, yoga demonstration and the Traveling Chairs art exhibit.

•  The UNC Visitors’ Center and the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill will hold a “Priceless Gems Tour – The True Blue Bucket List” event on June 10.

The tour will offer behind-the-scenes looks at places on campus and in town that are rarely open to the public.

All proceeds will benefit the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill.

Chapel Hill High School is holding an online fundraising campaign to try to raise $7,000 by mid-June for the book room in the renovated Carrboro Thrift Shop.

CHHS is using the crowd-funding platform Indiegogo to collect online donations. The web site also includes a student-made video highlighting how the Thrift Shop has benefitted the Chapel Hill High student newspaper, yearbook and music programs.
