Botanical Garden to hold Moonlight Gala

• The UNC Visitors’ Center and the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill will hold a “Priceless Gems Tour – The True Blue Bucket List” event on June 10.

The tour will offer behind-the-scenes looks at places on campus and in town that are rarely open to the public. Among the stops on the tour are the meeting room of the Dialectical and Philanthropic Societies, the Kenan Stadium press box, backstage at Memorial Hall and other sites. All proceeds will benefit the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill.

•  The new Top of the Hill Distillery, 505 W. Franklin St., will hold a tour and tasting session at 6 p.m. May 31 to benefit the Orange County Rape Crisis Center.

Beer and light appetizers will also be served.

Tickets are $30 per person or $55 per couple. Participants must be 21 years or older.

•  The Last Unicorn, 536 Edwards Ridge Road, will present “Roots & Wings,” a fundraiser to benefit inclusive arts programs for children at Jordan Lake School of the Arts, from 1 to 5 p.m. June 2.

The event will include architectural salvage, a butterfly release storytelling, music, craft activities, food and drink, a yoga demonstration and the Traveling Chairs art exhibit.

•  Chapel Hill High School is holding an online fundraising campaign to raise $7,000 by mid-June for the book room in the renovated Carrboro Thrift Shop. CHHS is using the crowd-funding platform Indiegogo to collect online donations.

The North Carolina Botanical Garden will hold its inaugural Carolina Moonlight Gala from 6:30 to 11 p.m. June 2 at the Garden’s Education Building and surrounding gardens.

“Celebrating Sustainable Living” will include hors d’eouvres and drinks, live music by Rebecca and the Hi-Tones, dancing, a silent auction and more.

All proceeds will support the Garden’s conservation, horticulture and education programs. The silent auction is available online.
