CARRBORO - The sidewalk on the south side of East Main Street between Padgett Lane and 406 E. Main St. will be closed to pedestrians beginning Monday.
It will remain closed until approximately Feb. 9, 2013, for construction of the 300 East Main development. The actual length of time the sidewalk will be closed depends upon weather conditions and construction progress.
Pedestrians can access the sidewalk on the north side of Main Street by following the signed pedestrian detour route directing pedestrians to existing crosswalks at the Lloyd and Main streets intersection and at the West Rosemary and Main streets intersection. The bus stop on the south side of East Main Street near Ba Da Wings will remain open. Notice will be provided should the bus stop require relocation.
The sidewalk closure is necessary to ensure pedestrian safety while work takes place for the new Hampton Inn & Suites and retail building on the 300 East Main construction site.
