Scott Kelly lost his valiant battle with cancer Thursday, July 26. The son of Elizabeth and the late Ralph Kelly of Michigan, he is survived by his beloved wife, Candace, their sons Drew (Mai), and Cody, and his adored grandchildren, Karen and Reagan. A host of in-laws and their spouses and families also deeply mourn Scott’s loss.
Scott honorably and proudly served his country as a Marine in Vietnam, and subsequently enjoyed a life-long relationship with the American Legion, VFW, Vietnam Vets and 40/8 Monroe County Voiture 1153. A GM retiree, Scott especially enjoyed time with his family, traveling, restoring his prized ’48 Ford truck while working alongside his son, sampling microbreweries around the country, woodworking, and exploring the Florida Keys.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Scott’s honor Thursday, August 1 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Chapel Hill. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Those wishing to honor Scott’s memory may do so by donating for a nurse’s scholarship to 40/8 Monroe County Voiture 1153, 10111 Crabb Road, Temperance, Michigan 48182.
