Anne Beverly Allen Montague, known to her friends and family as Sue, died Tuesday, August 07, 2012 at home. She was 92.

Sue was born on April 12, 1920. She was the daughter of the late James O. and Mettie Coley Allen.

She was the widow of the late Robert E. Wooten, Dr. Woodrow Harkins, and Garland Montague.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers Thomas C. “Bill” Allen and Ben L. “Mac” Allen.

She is survived by her brother Cary D. “Maxie” Allen of Raleigh; children Beverly Wooten Stutts and husband Ron of Chapel Hill, Robert E. Wooten, Jr. and wife Edna of Raleigh, and Sunny Wooten Bailey and husband John of Raleigh; grandchildren Zachary Wooten Stutts of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Cameron Suzzanne Stutts of Raleigh.

Also stepdaughters Betty M. Barbour and husband Glenn of Raleigh, Lillian M. Easingwood and husband Richard of Fayetteville, and Dottie P. Montague of Raleigh, and numerous stepgrandchildren, stepgreatgrandchildren, and step great great grandchildren.

Sue was born and lived in Raleigh all of her life and was a graduate of Broughton High School. She worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles until 1956. She went back to work after the death of her first husband and worked at the NCSU Department of Forestry until her retirement in 1986.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 9, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she was a charter member. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family received friends from 7-9 on Wednesday, August 8, at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh.

The family would like to thank Mona Evans, Lorraine Trader, and Mary Jenkins of Handy Hands for their care and support for the past four years, and Hospice of Wake County for their help and support in her final weeks.

Sue loved flowers, but for those wishing to make a memorial contribution, Sue’s preference was that memorials be made to St. Paul’s Christian Church, 3331 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh, 27612; or to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, 27607.
