Woody Guthrie would have been 100 years old this year, and The ArtsCenter is throwing him a party. Local musicians, writers and others will perform Guthrie’s music and read his writings at the Woody Guthrie Centennial Celebration, 2-4p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at The ArtsCenter, 30-G E. Main St., Carrboro.

Among those on tap: Jon Shain and Joe Newberry, Katharine Whalen, Kim Arrington, Zelda Lockhart, Sen. Ellie Kinnaird, Tim Stambaugh, Charles Pettee, Danny Gotham and Jim Watson, Blood Jar Creepers, Sacrificial Poets, Cyril Lance, Nathan Golub and Art Menius. UNC professor of American Studies robert Cantwell will discuss Guthrie’s place in American culture.
