Mrs. Miriam Palacio of Hillsborough, NC passed away on Wed. Sept 12 due to complications from her cancer treatment. Miriam was the daughter of the late Nathan and Alice Calk of Boston, MA. Miriam worked at Chicle Language School and was a long-time volunteer and supporter of non-profit organizations including the Orange County Humane Society, El Pueblo, Kiva, and local classical music and theater groups.

Surviving her are her husband of 41 years, Enrique, her daughter, Rebeca and her son, Danny. Also, Miriam was the proud grandmother of 4 beautiful granddaughters, Grace (9), Lily (5), Isabel (5), and Natalia (3).

A memorial service to remember Miriam’s joy, wit, love of friendship and wonderful company will be held at the Walker Funeral Service in Chapel Hill, NC at 10:30 on Sunday, Sept. 16th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
