A 25-year-old man was shot shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday at his 414 Peace St. home, according to a news release.

A passenger in a dark green, late ’90s model, four-door Honda shot Christopher Paul Carey several times with a handgun, the release said. He was in stable condition Friday at Duke Hospital, deputies reported.

Three medium complexion black men in their late teens or early 20s were in the Honda, which had a North Carolina license plate, Sheriff’s Capt. Archie Daniel said. One man had braids or dredlocks, he said. No additional descriptive details such as height or weight were available.

The driver of the Honda left, driving north on West Hill Avenue and west on U.S. 70, the release said.

An earlier shooting was reported around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday at a BP service station near the corner of U.S. 70 and N.C. 86. Jaheem Watson, 23, of Graham, was shot in the side, treated at Duke Hospital and released.

Deputies said they do not think either shooting is random.
