•  The McDougle Middle School volleyball team will host its annual Dig Pink game at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18 in the school gym.

The team will wear special pink uniforms for the game against Smith and will sell items to raise Monday for breast cancer research by the Susan B. Komen Foundation.

•  The Chapel Hill Rotary Club Seafood Festival will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Chapel Hill Country Club.

Local celebrity chef Jimmy Reale will prepare nine different fish, shrimp and oyster dishes. Proceeds will benefit Chapel Hill and international service projects and ArtsCenter scholarships for children in need.

•  Karen (an ethnic group from Burma) families participating in the Refugee Agricultural Partnership Project will host a Fall Festival at Transplanting Traditions Community Farm on the site of the Irvin Nature Preserve at 4 p.m. Oct 28.

The event will feature traditional Karen/Burmese food, hot cider, traditional Karen music, garden tours and a presentation on Karen/Burmese history.

Proceeds will help support refugee families working toward sustainable agricultural projects.

•  The Mental Health Association of the Triangle will hold its inaugural Golf Outing at the Chapel Hill County Club on Oct. 29.

The event will be a captain’s choice format with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Mental Health Association of the Trianlge.

•  The 2012 Chatham Hunger Walk will be held at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 4, starting at Pittsboro Elementary School in Pittsboro.

The event will feature live music and food trucks.

Proceeds benefit the CORA food pantry to feed families in crisis throughout Chatham County.

The 3rd Annual Pig Out for the Cure barbecue fundraiser for cancer research and treatment will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at Coldwell Banker/Howard Perry and Walston, 1600 E. Franklin St.
